Colorado to see impacts from 2 rival rulings about abortion pill

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:16:03 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) -- Two rival rulings are now dividing the country. On Friday, a Texas federal judge ruled to suspend Mifepristone, an FDA-approved abortion pill. This comes at the same time a judge in the state of Washington ruled to protect access to the pill in 17 states including Colorado. Political science professor with the University of Denver Joshua Wilson, who also specialized in abortion law, said Mifepristone is one of the most commonly used methods of abortion in the country.  "We have a split in the country of with one federal judge saying the drug is essentially off limits and the other judge saying that no, access is still available,” Wilson said. Colorado is currently not affected because the state is part of the ruling in Washington that protects access to the pill.  Federal judge blocks abortion pill approval "Right now, Colorado is in this protected space, but if the litigates who challenged the FDA around this drug prevail at the Supr...

Thompson: Progressives wrong on popularity of open borders bills

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:16:03 GMT

Massachusetts recently became the eighteenth state to offer drivers’ licenses to illegal immigrants.  Up until 2022, a variety of pro-illegal immigration bills, including the drivers’ license bill, were introduced into the Legislature but Democratic leaders bottled these bills up in committees, realizing that even in Massachusetts priorities of open-border activists are not widely shared.  A 2019 Harvard/Harris Poll found that nationwide 72% of voters oppose driver’s licenses for illegal immigrants. Just before the House vote in May 2022, a Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll found 47% of Massachusetts voters in opposition and 46% in favor.Democrats and progressives, who have become increasingly radicalized on immigration over the past decade, initially felt obliged to make perfunctory statements about securing the borders. However, after the anti-Trump mobilization of 2016-20, most Democratic politicians and their media allies abandoned all restraint, adopting a full open borders ...

How to tell the boss when you need some help

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 08:16:03 GMT

Q. My boss wants me to take on a new project — honestly, I have no idea how to do it. It’s HTML stuff. I’m a creative person, not a techie. Can I push back?A. Yes. Talk to your boss calmly. While it’s great you’re being tasked with this new project (and learning a new skill is always a good thing!), ask for support and/or resources. Will there be an online class you can take? Can you speak to an internal coder or shadow them? You can’t be expected to do something you’ve never done before and do it well — that’s setting you up for failure.Additionally, if you don’t have bandwidth and you’re already swamped with an intense workload, mention this to your boss. Who will support your other work (maybe lean into resources from other departments or hire a temp) so it gets done while you focus on HTML? I’d be curious to hear why you’re being tasked with this since it’s not really adjacent to what you do ̵...
